2011 has quickly become the year of royal weddings with Bhutan’s king, Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck, marrying ‘commoner’ Jetsun Pema.

The ten years age difference doesn’t appear to be giving anyone a second thought, as happiness is the focus of Bhutan’s culture.
And it’s no wonder people are so happy, as the population of this country has been waiting for this wedding since the kind was first crowned five years ago.
