La Vie d’Adèle – ‘Blue is the Warmest Colour’ in English – had made waves at the Cannes Film Festival by taking the most prestigious award… and all for a story about a lesbian romance.
“Perhaps coming as no surprise to those who watched it at the festival, Abdellatif Kechiche’s “La Vie d’Adèle” is the Palme d’Or winner.” – YT
I think the Cannes Film Festival is one of those things that I’ve always wanted to go to but never really investigated. But I do love short films and innovative storytelling.
What irks me just a little bit about this win is that people are playing up that it’s a lesbian romance. So? Why can’t it just be a beautiful romance? Or is being a lesbian still that shocking?
Am I just not getting it?
