“Australian mother Sally Faulkner and a Channel Nine crew have been freed after a two-week child abduction saga in Lebanon, after Ms Faulkner’s estranged husband dropped all charges against them.
“Channel Nine said the 60 Minutes’ crew were now in Dubai, but the group could be asked to return to Lebanon if the state lodges criminal charges.
“The 60 Minutes team and Ms Faulkner had been in jail since being accused of involvement in an operation to snatch Ms Faulkner’s children off a street in Beirut nearly two weeks ago.
“The ABC understands Australia’s ambassador to Lebanon had spoken with the head of Lebanon’s powerful General Security agency, Abbas Ibrahim.
“Ms Faulkner’s estranged husband, Ali el-Amien, struck a deal that saw the charges abandoned, but is still pursuing the child recovery crew who snatched his young son and daughter from their grandmother.”
