“One of the side effects of the industry’s emphasis on tentpoles and franchise fare is that it is no longer all that unique to see a major actor in a comic book movie, or even a cast filled with would-be prestige actors in big-budget popcorn fare.
“Whether you’re Glenn Close in Guardians of the Galaxy or Laura Linney in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, doing a small role in a big-scale IP flick is now one of the only ways to make money from feature films for any number of working actors.
“But even with that caveat, the talent assembled for Walt Disney’s Christopher Robin is darn impressive. The film is directed by Marc Forster (Stranger than Fiction) and written by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight), Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Phillip) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures).”
