Splendor in the Grass is a 1961 classic film about love, heartbreak, sexual repression, and more starring Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty.
In 1928 in a small town in Kansas, teenagers Deanie Loomis (Natalie Wood) and Bud Stamper (Warren Beatty) struggle with their desires to be sexual together.
The immense pressure from both sets of parents (including Bud’s father’s advice to find another girl to ‘satisfy himself’ with) sets forth a series of events that change Deanie’s and Bud’s lives forever.
This is a sad story of two young people just trying to find their way. What would have happened if they had made their own decisions? What would have happened if sex was better understood by all?
I guess we’ll never know.
