It’s been a while since I posted a Cinema Sins video for the simple reason that a movie has rubbed me so much the wrong way.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is a very pretty movie in a lot of spots. There’s plenty of fun to be had and a lot of interesting (well, I say ‘interesting’…) characters to get to know.
BUT THE DIALOGUE. THE CONVENIENCE. THE EXPOSITIONAL ALEXA.
Wow. I’m reminded of Jupiter Ascending with lots of pretty things to look at and some elements of potential, but wow did the writing flunk out in a hurry.
