“Winslow, the son of San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame receiver Kellen Winslow, was one of the nation’s most highly touted prospects coming out of college in Miami.
“Over his first three NFL seasons in Cleveland, Winslow finished inside the top-10 in total receptions in 2006 and was named to the 2007 Pro Bowl the following season. He earned more than $43 million in salary during his 10-year career, making him one of the league’s highest-paid tight ends, playing for Tampa Bay, New England and New York after leaving Cleveland.
“Winslow’s attorneys argued that their client likely sustained more than 1,000 hits to his head during his career and that he had been diagnosed with frontal lobe damage and symptoms associated with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).”
