Colour, lights, parties, and excess covering up a darker nature both in the characters and in the world. Sounds like a Baz Luhrmann film to me…
My introduction to Luhrmann and his style was Moulin Rouge, a movie that stood out not only for its star power but for its use of colour and luxury against a dark and desolate background.
Since Moulin Rouge (and since taking a film class), I have come to appreciate his work even more.
I will confess that I have never read The Great Gatsby, but the emergence of this movie and the clips I have seen make me want to read it.
Have you read it? Have you watched the movie?
