“The debate over Will Smith’s shocking slap at the 94th Academy Awards rages on.
“Jim Carrey has lent his voice to the cacophony of takes, telling CBS’s Gayle King that he did not approve of the Oscars audience applauding Smith after his best-actor acceptance speech, which came less than an hour after Smith slapped Chris Rock.
““I was sickened by the standing ovation,” Carrey added. “Hollywood is just spineless en masse, and it really felt like it was a clear indication that we aren’t the cool club anymore.”
“Carrey went on to say that Smith “should’ve been” escorted from the Dolby Theatre after slapping Rock for making an insensitive joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.”
