“Pop star Kesha wept in court as she was denied permission to break a recording contract with the producer she claims raped her as a teenager.
“Kesha is contractually obliged to make six more albums with Kemosabe Records, a label run by producer Dr Luke but owned by Sony.
“A Manhattan Supreme Court judge denied a preliminary injunction to cancel her contracts and prevent Sony from forcing her to work with Dr Luke, aka Lukasz Gottwald, the Hollywood Reporter reports.
“”You’re asking the court to decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated and typical for the industry,” Judge Shirley Kornreich told Kesha’s lawyer.
“”I don’t understand why I have to take the extraordinary measure of granting an injunction.””
