“IT might have been a surprise ratings success, but those in the know say Mary: The Making of a Princess was more fiction than fact.
“More than 900,000 viewers didn’t seem to mind, save for Mary’s real-life best friend Amber Petty.
“The former radio host, who has built a career from her cameo as Mary’s bridesmaid back in 2004, took to social media to rubbish the show, which detailed the fairytale romance between the Tasmanian real estate agent and the Crown Prince of Denmark.
“After expressing her disbelief at the storyline with a gif splashed with the words “Are you f … ing kidding me?”, Petty Tweeted the show’s cast member Renae Small — who played her — with a backhanded compliment.”
