Within ten days of the investigation being finalized, Penn State President Rodney Erickson has caused some hot debate with his decision to remove the statue of former Penn State coach Joe Paterno.
If you’re just catching up (like I am), according to the Huffington Post:
“The university announced Sunday that it was taking down the monument in the wake of an investigative report that found that the late coach and three other top Penn State administrators concealed sex abuse claims against Jerry Sandusky…
“[Sandusky] was convicted last month of sexually abusing 10 boys, sometimes on Penn State’s campus.”
Honestly, I think they are doing the right thing. He may have done a lot for that university, but that statue standing there could be a constant reminder to the victims.
Better to take it down.
