“A bushfire watch and act remained in place on Saturday morning for Hopeland in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, after lightning sparked a fire on Friday afternoon.
“A total of 60 volunteer firefighters were on site Saturday morning, extinguishing flare-ups and building containment lines for the blaze, which had burnt through 100 hectares.
“The watch and act applied to people in the vicinity of Karnup Road, the Kwinana Freeway, Doghill Road and Kiely Lane in Hopeland in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.
“An emergency warning had earlier applied but there was a downgrade on Saturday morning with the fire contained and under control. However, there were still significant flare-ups within containment lines.”
