15 year old Louisa ball suffers from a rare disorder that takes ‘teenagers need a lot of sleep’ to the extreme. Actually called Kleine-Levin Syndrome, ‘sleeping beauty syndrome’ has Louisa sleeping for up to two weeks at a time.
While it may not be as dramatic as waking up years later like portrayed in movies or television, this affliction is very real.
Without being able to stop it or even time it, Louisa is stuck being a slave to her sleep schedule, missing out on the important things in life.
True, the chances are that she’ll grow out of it, but the damage to aspects of her life like work and school will have already been done.
