“As the buzz builds around the opening of Matilda The Musical in Sydney this week, it appears Melbourne won’t have to wait too long to see Tim Minchin bring Roald Dahl’s much-loved children’s story to life.
“The musical, a huge hit on the West End and Broadway, has its Australian premiere in Sydney on Thursday night – and now looks set to open in Melbourne early next year.
“”Performances will take place at a theatre located in Melbourne CBD commencing (on or about) March 2016,” a children’s casting brief posted online says.
“Four girls have been cast as Matilda – a five-year-old genius with villainous parents – for the Sydney run of the play at the Lyric Theatre.”
