“There were prison lockdowns in Ohio and Pennsylvania on Wednesday over fears that inmates and staff members were exposed to drugs or other unknown substances that made them ill, authorities say.
“At Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, the majority of those exposed to an unknown substance Wednesday were treated and released, hospital officials said.
“According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, Wednesday’s incident appears to have begun with an inmate exhibiting signs of a possible overdose.
“Later it was reported that 27 staff members had potentially been exposed to an unidentified substance.
“The victims were taken to Adena Medical Center, where chief clinical officer Kirk Tucker said only the inmate arrived unconscious and was admitted. RCI staff were all treated and released.”
