“Sweden’s prime minister announced Monday the country would drop its long-held nonaligned status and apply to join the trans-Atlantic military alliance.
“It was the latest evidence that Russia’s invasion to counter NATO and control Kyiv is increasingly strengthening the West while Russia scales back its goals in the east as struggles persist.”
