“Australian Olympics champion Sally Pearson has broken her wrist during a race in the Rome leg of the Diamond League.
“Pearson hit the ground after nicking a hurdle during the women’s 100m championships, breaking and dislocating her wrist.
“A statement by Athletics Australia said Pearson had “suffered a dislocation and a complex fracture of both the ulna and the radius in her left arm” and will “undergo surgery” immediately.
“It is not yet known if the injury endangers Pearson’s hopes of competing at the world athletics championships in Beijing this August.”
