“No one makes a Thor movie like Taika Waititi—as proven by the fact that after the runaway success of Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel isn’t even going to let anyone try.
“The Kiwi director just signed on to direct the film’s follow-up, Thor 4, which remains without an official title. Waititi’s live-action adaptation of the anime Akira, meanwhile, has been put on hold.
“According to the Hollywood Reporter, Waititi was already testing actors for Akira—but the project has now been paused; the film’s shooting was already delayed due to “script-development concerns,” and now production dates for Akira and Thor 4 have begun to conflict, T.H.R. reports.
“Still, Warner Bros. appears to be waiting until after Thor 4 in the hopes that Waititi might have a freer schedule later on.”
