“Long-term Seven Brisbane newsreader Frank Warrick has died at 76, leading to tributes from former colleagues and from the floor of the Queensland Parliament.

“He was surrounded by family when he died in the early hours of Tuesday, following a five-year battle with dementia.

“Warrick joined Channel Seven Queensland in 1976, in a 40-year career in television. He retired in 2001.

“His long-term on-air partner, Kay McGrath, described him as a “consummate professional who’ll be much missed”.

““Frank and I always had each other’s backs on air during a highly successful 13-year partnership,” she said on Twitter.

“McGrath said they had a successful on-air relationship during the 1980s and ’90s.”
