“At least four trucks have exploded into flames at a COVID checkpoint at the WA border.
“The road trains caught fire while waiting in a COVID testing line on Eyre Highway in the Nullabor, South Australia on Monday afternoon.
“It is understood they were waiting to cross the border into WA when chaos unfolded near the Border Village Roadhouse.
“In a social media post about 1.30pm on Monday, South Australia Police said the Country Fire Service had responded to the incident, but that strong winds had caused thick smoke to blanket the highway.
““CFS are fighting a number of truck fires near the Border Village Roadhouse on the Eyre Highway, Nullabor,” the post stated. “Strong winds are causing thick black smoke to drift across the highway which may impact driver visibility.”
