There I was thinking most people were intelligent, knowledgeable, and tech-minded these days. I was clearly wrong, as this random selection of people in New York demonstrates. What is a browser? I haven’t got a clue.
The vast majority of people use the Internet for something now, whether it be surfing the Web, downloading music, or watching random video clips of people answering question in the street. But most clearly don’t know what they are doing.
Microsoft, Google, Mozilla, Apple, Opera, and others are currently engaged in a vicious browser war, but it seems they’re all wasting their time because most of the population don’t even know the difference between a browser and a search engine.
Which is an obvious advantage to Google because almost everyone associates Google with Search. The only problem is getting the Chrome browser known outside of tech circles, which may be harder than first thought.
Maybe these people were just having a bad day, or maybe New York isn’t the right place to ask the question. No, I’m being too kind, these people are clearly ignorant and just a little bit thick.
