Keyboard Cat is a decades-old video clip which surfaced on YouTube a couple of years ago. It was a mildly successful hit but didn’t go viral in the way many videos have since. And why would it – all it is is a moggy playing a keyboard.
However, the mash-up you see above, which features a guy in a wheelchair falling backwards down an escalator before Keyboard Cat plays his little tune has become viral and set off a chain reaction of the original clip being used on hundreds of other videos.
The beauty of this video is that it takes what can only be described as a tragedy and immediately turns it into comedy, albeit by the cruelty needed to hold a cat at a keyboard and move his paws so he plays music.
I’m not sure the guy in the wheelchair would see the funny side of this quite so much but then I assume he was OK in the end. I have to assume that because otherwise I’d quickly lose my sense of humor.
