Google recently answered the question, Who invented the piano? It isn’t a question many of us will have asked over the years, but the answer is actually rather interesting.
It turns out it was a man named Bartolomeo Cristofori, but his name isn’t exactly known the world over, mainly as a result of him being a hired hand for the Medici family.
Still, his creation, which evolved from the harpsichord, has lived on as an instrument for 300 years and counting. Which is an astonishing achievement.
It’s good to learn. But I suspect that I’ll have forgotten that name by the time someone asks me who invented the piano? Not that anyone is likely to do so.
