He might not be the world’s best violinist, but David Garrett is the world’s fastest, and for that he’s earned a Guinness World Record.
To be fair I don’t know whether David Garrett is the world’s best violinist. When he’s playing that fast it’s a bit hard to critique his technique! But I can be impressed by his hand speed, which sees him play Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee” in a record one minute and 6.56 seconds.
For those playing at home that’s an incredible 13 notes per second. It’s always a fast and furious song, but it doesn’t generally move along that quickly!
David Garrett is definitely a musician for our time-poor society!
