The Zero Punctuation reviews are still must-sees for me despite there being so many. Ben ‘Yahtzee’ Croshaw never seems to lose his edge, constantly managing to find new ways of getting laughs and ridiculing video games.
This video sees Croshaw review Valkyria Chronicles, a game that’s been out a few months. It’s a tactical role playing game which combines elements of Japanese RPGs and Gears of War style third-person shooting. Which sounds fantastic but isn’t without its problems.
The game clearly draws inspiration from the Second World War, with Europa and the East Europan Imperial Alliance replacing Europe and Germany respectively. Croshaw suggests the reason for the name changes is due to Japan’s own involvement in the war – on the wrong side of good.
The Zero Punctuation reviews do a good job by focusing on the issues gamers may have while playing certain titles. We can then decide if we’ll be able to see past these frustrations enough to be able to enjoy the game.
With Valkyria Chronicles I get the feeling I wouldn’t be able to.
