This is a very simple but important video, showing one man’s reaction to the news that Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States Of America.
Jesse Jackson, civil rights activist, baptist minister, and strong Democrat, is seen crying and visibly moved by the fact that a black man has made it to the White House.
Jackson himself actually made two bids to become President, running for the Democratic candidacy in 1984 and 1988, but he never managed to gain enough support or momentum.
As a white European I’m ecstatic to see Obama become President but I’m guessing my feelings on the matter pale in to complete insignificance when compared with how African-Americans are feeling this morning.
