When the Segway was first announced years ago, I seem to recall a whole load of hype being spouted about how the personal transporters were going to revolutionise the world.
Fast forward to now and very few people own one, and they haven’t revolutionised anything. In fact, all they are good for is as a source of amusement as people fall flat on their face while using one.
I was under the impression that you couldn’t actually fall off one of these, that is was impossible for the Segway to topple over, but this video shows exactly that.
I suppose it’s because one wheel rises off the ground and the whole thing then loses stability. Oops.
What this should teach us is not to have a Segway race through a shopping mall. Not that I was about to do so anyway, but useful to note nonetheless.
