Classic Jon Stewart Stand-Up Video | 90’s Jokes Still Relevant Today

30 sec read

“We’re bombing Iraq?…We have no business being at the Middle East at war.”

Believe it or not, this clip was taken in 1996.

Years before Jon Stewart was making fun of George Bush or even hosting The Daily Show, he was known for being a political stand-up comedian. Oddly enough, the jokes he talked about more than a decade ago are just as relevant today.

Usually when one thinks of classic stand-up performances they think of comedians like Steve Martin, Richard Pryor, and Eddie Murphy because their subject matter isn’t mostly political, and as a result, is still funny today. Jon Stewart, however, proves to be an exception.

Maybe it’s because the Bush Administration hasn’t done much progress, or maybe it’s because Jon has a time capsule. Either way, it’s clear that this performance could air tomorrow and not seem dated.
