Conan O’Brien has been hosting The Late Show on NBC for 16 years, since David Letterman left the network to join CBS. Last night saw O’Brien record his last show, and this video shows him making his final tour of the studio.
Conan O’Brien is leaving The Late Show in order to move to The Tonight Show, whose host Jay Leno is moving to a new 10pm slot. Meanwhile Jimmy Fallon is the controversial choice as the new host of The Late Show.
O’Brien will leave New York with his head held high, having managed to guide the show for 16 years, in which he hosted 2,725 episodes. Whether Fallon will be able to repeat that level of success and longevity remains to be seen.
It’s reported that O’Brien closed his final show by heaping praise on David Letterman and Jay Leno, the former of which is my personal favorite. Fans of O’Brien will have to wait until June before he’s back on the air in his new role.
