Conan’s Backdrop Looks Like Super Mario Video | New Tonight Show Set

It’s only Conan O’Brien’s first week as the new Tonight Show host and already he’s shaking things up. Recently some viewers (most likely video game nerds) criticized his backdrop on the set for looking like a Super Mario level.

Which, as Conan reveals in this clip, really does.

I can’t imagine how the producers came up with the idea, but I’m glad they did. No doubt, this stunt will draw in tons of Gen X viewers and video game lovers to watch more of The Tonight Show. The very gesture of a 90’s video game reference implies that the show is indeed turning a new leaf.
