Google has seen fit to pay tribute to Fanny Blankers-Koen, also known as “The Flying Housewife”.
Blankers-Koen was a Dutch athlete who won four gold medals at the 1948 London Olympics, despite being 30 years old, having two kids, and only training for a couple of hours a day.
This video shows Fanny Blankers-Koen in action, as she sprints and hurdles her way to Olympic glory.
Blankers-Koen not only dominated the women’s track events at the 1948 London Olympics, she set new records, including the biggest margin of victory in the 200 meters event.
The “Female Athlete of the Century” retired in 1955 and died in 2004. But she will be remembered for a long time to come.
