Bib Papi (David Ortiz) got a little too carried away in his pregame speech and caused a big ruckus by now famously saying, “This is our fucking city and no body is going to dictate our freedom.” He said after the game that the “fucking” was not premeditated and that “it just came out.” What’s all the hubbub about cursing to ignite some people’s patriotic fires? The FCC doesn’t care and why should we?
He was stirring up the Fenway crowd during yesterday’s Boston Marathon remembrance as a reminder to stay strong before the Red Sox game. Plenty of celebrities get away with using curse words and acting like fools on national television. This includes reality stars. So everybody seems to think this case is way worse then anything we’ve seen for patriotism so far in this “freedom of speech” country.
So what exactly was the FCC take on this? The tweet was as follows: David Ortiz spoke from the heart at today’s Red Sox game. I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston – Julius
If the point is that sports are for family and parents don’t want these people setting bad examples then people need to get the hell over and realize their kids will hear and see things way worse than this at home from said parents and everywhere else for that matter. Remember: this is our fucking COUNTRY and nobody can dictate our FREEDOM.
