I still can’t believe this public service announcement is real. The rapper in this video goes by the name Phua Chu Kang. In Singapore he’s famous for two things:
The big mole on his face and his hilarious “SAR-Vivor Rap.”
If you stop to think about it, the whole concept of this video is genius. What’s more memorable than a cheesy rap as a PSA? Surely, this quirky song would stay longer in your head than most anti-drug commercials.
Some of the tips are obvious, for example, washing your hands and taking baths. However, the tip about not leaving food out for stray dogs and cats was kind of odd. I guess it must be a Singaporean thing.
Educational and funny, what more could we ask for? The next time I go to Singapore, I’ll remember not to “kak-pui” on anyone’s face.
