Genius Weird Al Word Crimes Music Video | Weird Al Yankovic Covers Blurred Lines

As a bit of a grammar Nazi myself, it’s refreshing to see this subject tackled in a song. Even better, in a song by Weird Al, who from this moment forth can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes.

Word Crimes is the second single Weird Al has released from his new album Mandatory Fun. He’s releasing one a day as a publicity stunt for the album, but we won’t hold that against him.

Word Crimes is a cover of Blurred Lines by creepy Robin Thicke. Gone are the misogynistic lyrics, to be replaced by a rant against the way the English language is being abused online.

It’s all true too. People seem to have forgotten the most basic lessons they were taught at school. Or perhaps they just don’t care any more. Either way, Weird Al has nailed it.
