Lawrence announced the campaign on Tuesday, which also happens to be her 27th birthday.
“If you’re a Republican, if you’re liberal, it doesn’t matter,” Lawrence told Vogue in the September issue of the magazine. Lawrence said the goal of the organization, of which she is a board member, is to get “money and corruption out of politics.”
“We can’t continue this divide and anger,” she added. “There are issues affecting us as human beings, not as liberals and not as Republicans. We have to protect the foundation of this country, and acceptance.”
To help support the Represent.Us cause, Jennifer Lawrence is accompanying one winner and a friend on a “picnic among the vines and play lawn games at the vineyard.” The winners will be flown to California, where they will stay in a 4-star hotel.
The winners may also receive two wine tumblers, two wine charms and a “We Run This” t-shirt, depending on the size of the donation.
Lawrence filmed a PSA-style video to help raise awareness for her cause and campaign.
“I’m here to give you and a friend the chance to come wine tasting with me in California to benefit Represent.Us,” she said. “We’ll hang out, drink some wine, talk politics, drink wine, maybe we’ll call your ex, maybe we’ll call my ex – who knows? The point is, we’ll have fun.”
Every entry supports the organization. The larger the donation, the more chances there are to win.
