Since 2004, those using pay-per-view to watch the Superbowl have been treated to a halftime show featuring women in scantily-clad clothing playing with each other (so to speak). Now it’s being turned into a league.
Believe it or not, the Lingerie Football League is set to kick off in September. The first match will be between the Miami Caliente and the Chicago Bliss and it will literally feature women in their lingerie playing football.
Being a red-blooded male that obviously has some appeal for me. Ten teams will compete and tickets are expected to be cheap, certainly when you consider what you’re going to be seeing on th field.
However, I can’t help thinking this is making a mockery of women’s sports. Is the only way it’ll draw a crowd when the ladies playing wear next to nothing? That’s a sad indictment on today’s society.
