Once upon a time the release of an M. Night Shyamalan film had us on the edge of our seat. But after a couple of stinkers, the buzz died. With his latest flick Devil though, it seems this film icon may be back to his best.
Here we see five people trapped in an elevator, one of whom is the devil. From this simple, and somewhat original, premise we get the kind of tense thriller M. Night Shyamalan can do so well.
It’s important to note that Shyamalan didn’t write or direct this flick. These have always been his weaknesses, so with other folks taking over the hard stuff the ideas may shine through.
One slick trailer doesn’t a great movie make, but the first signs are more than promising.
Devil opens in American cinemas this September.
