Michael Jackson will soon be making a comeback with a run of concerts at London’s O2 Arena. I know, a disaster waiting to happen. But back in the 1980s, Jacko was the man… who Pepsi paid a fortune to advertise their brand.
Alfonso Ribeiro is a name most people don’t know but his alter-ego, Carlton Banks (from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), is instantly recognizable to most of us of a certain age. Here, the two of them meet up in a 1984 advert for Pepsi. Classic.
I bet you didn’t know Carlton Banks could dance like that, did you? Or maybe you did if you’ve seen his classic break dancing video. Regardless, this advert shows the two coming face-to-face – the real Michael Jackson and his young copycat.
Michael Jackson and kids don’t really go together too well these days but clearly those were simpler times. There are so many jokes I could make about this video but luckily for me the YouTube commenters have already made them all.
