Just like with The Resistance, The 2nd Law looks to be an album built around a theme. I’m guessing money, or perhaps greed. Whatever the theme it sounds… different.
I don’t mind a bit of dubstep from time to time, but that doesn’t mean I want a whole Muse album full of it. Perhaps it’s just one song but I fear this could be present throughout.
Muse are known for pushing the envelope, of breaking barriers, of mixing genres in with one another. But dubstep may just be a step too far for the band’s traditional fans, even dubstep created on guitar.
