Nostalgic 90s Toonami Tribute Video | Evolution Of The Anime Show From 1997

If you grew up in the 90s watching Toonami, be prepared for a time warp. This video shows the evolution of Toonami from when it first started in 1997 until 2008.

Didn’t know it was still around? Neither did I, which is probably why it officially got canceled in March of this year.

For a child in the 90s, Toonami wasn’t your ordinary block of shows presented by a zany host. After all, Nickelodeon and Disney had those down to a science. Toonami was the first to crossover Japanese animated cartoons (which we know now as Anime) into North America.

In the very beginning, it was hosted by Moltar (the Space Ghost Villan) and eventually became hosted by the infamous Tom robot. Had I kept up with Toonami after it’s original run of shows like Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, and Reboot, I would have seen the 3rd generation of Tom.

Which, lord have mercy, looks a lot like Thomas the train.
