Pixar’s Very First Short Video | From 1984’s Wally B To WALLE-E

Disney/Pixar’s latest film WALL-E has certainly been making some waves lately. But have you ever seen Pixar’s very first 3D animated short?

Believe it or not, the above animation was made over 20 years ago, yet it’s quality is still comparable to many children’s shows today.

This short was made in 1984 when Pixar wasn’t even called Pixar. In fact, the original name for the startup was Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Project (which can be seen in the first few seconds of the short).

What’s even more amazing was that it was made by the now-famous John Lasseter on a Cray X-MP/48 computer with only 64MB of RAM. The going rate for one of those baby’s was nearly $15 million back in 1986.

Oh how times have changed.
