Although I’ve used the term “police brutality” in the title of this post, I don’t actually believe that’s what we see in this video. But it is obviously going to be a question of interpretation.
We see an elderly black woman taken down by a female police officer in quite a harsh way. She’s slammed to the ground by having her legs taken out from under her. And it leaves her with a bleeding head injury.
However, while the crowd are shouting an arguing with the assembled police officers and accusing them of using excessive force, no one seems to mention that the woman was holding a knife and threatening the female officer with it.
Would they have been complaining if the woman had stuck the police officer in the neck with the knife? Which while unlikely could have happened. It is excessive force but the elderly woman wasn’t exactly an innocent bystander.
