Slowthai certainly left an impression on the audience at the 2020 NME Awards. However, their abiding memory won’t be of this performance, but of what happened next…
Things started off well enough, with Slowthai and Mura Masa performing Deal Wiv It live on stage. It’s not my cup of tea, but it clearly appeals to some people.
However, when picking up the award for Hero of the Year, Slowthai ruined everything.
First, he sexually harassed Katherine Ryan, invading her personal space. Then, he confronted an audience member, throwing a glass of bubbly at them, before jumping down into the crowd to start a fight.
It’s clear that Slowthai is an idiot. However, I don’t think this will end his career. On the contrary, his headline-grabbing appearance will likely gain him new fans.
