Sony Tests Fortnite Crossplay on PS4 Video | IGN Discusses The News

After originally refusing to even contemplate the idea of supporting cross-platform play for certain games, Sony has finally seen sense.

The company is now conducting what it calls an extended beta test allowing PS4 owners to play Fortnite against players using the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, amongst others.

This is good news. The idea that everyone is confined to playing in their own walled garden as defined by which console they own is becoming increasingly outdated.

I really hope this trend continues beyond Fortnite. As there’s no reason why bigger and better games couldn’t be afforded the same privilege.
