A full 20 years after the rap group split up, we’re getting the story of N.W.A.
Is it too little, too late? Or has enough time passed to enable this film to show the truth of those early days for gangsta rap.
The trailer for Straight Outta Compton starts with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube driving back into Compton. Things have changed, especially for the two rappers, both of whom are now multi-millionaires.
We then see a bunch of unknowns (plus Paul Giamatti) reliving those heady days when N.W.A. started a revolution that’s still going on today.
I suspect some of the story will be subtly changed to make the main players look good, but Staright Outaa Compton still looks like being an interesting film.
