Surreallistic Trippy Music Video

Music videos may have left behind the surrealism of the eighties long ago, but it seems like surrealism is making a comeback.

While not all contemporary music videos are as blatantly symbolic (nor Jungian) as this new one from the “Bat for Lashes,” there has certainly been a resurgence in trippy music videos.

One of the most annoying things about more artsy stuff like this becoming popularized is the painful tendency of many people to try to pick it apart to figure out how it works.

I encourage you to not look for where the cuts are in the film, and rather to appreciate it on its own terms. I think that you’ll find it quite haunting, and fitting for the song.
