Sylvia Kristel, who made her name with the Emmanuelle movies from the 1970s, has passed away at the tender age of 60 after a long battle with cancer.
In this day and age, with the Internet making it possible for anyone to see images of anything they desire, it’s hard to imagine quite what an impact the Emmanuelle movies had at the time of their release.
They were such big news in the 1970s that Kristel came to be defined by her performance. Still, she went on to star in more than 50 movies, most of them not of an erotic nature.
This video shows Kristel discussing the Emmanuelle movies and her involvement with them. The Dutch actress died in her sleep on Oct. 17, 2012. She is survived by her partner Peter Brul and her son Arthur.
