This video gives us our first taste of The Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit.
Technically this trailer is for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first part of this Hobbit saga. I understood splitting The Lord of the Rings up over three movies, just as Tolkien himself did with the books, but cutting up this relatively small tale seems like a grab for cinematic cash.
I’m sure fans of Peter Jackson’s Middle Earth epics won’t hold the move against him though. The trailer is already whipping them into a frenzy, and the movie’s still 12 months away.
That’s right everybody; savor this clip because we’ve got a whole year to wait until the movie hits cinema screens!
