Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson broke his ankle Wednesday night when New York Mets left fielder Eric Young Jr. accidentally stepped on it during a bang-bang play at first base. The gruesome fracture will sideline the 38-year-old Hudson for the season.
Given the extent of the injury, you wouldn’t blame Hudson or his wife, Kim, for harboring a bit of ill-will toward Young. It was clearly an accident and Young was visibly distraught after injuring Hudson, but it would have been perfectly acceptable for the Hudsons to have some irrational thoughts after such a traumatic event.
That’s not the way Kim Hudson rolls. She wrote the kindest tweet to Young on Thursday afternoon, absolving him of blame and accepting his prayers for Tim.
Hudson Tweets: “Can’t say enough great things about the @Mets organization and the way they handled Tim’s injury: players, medical team, security #grateful”
No wonder the sports world has shown so much support for the Hudsons over the past 16 hours. It’s easy to root for the good guys.
